Batista (Cambric)
(or Batiste, in English Cambric or Cambrai by the name of his inventor, a French weaver of Cambrai, who was called Baptiste). Very fine cotton or linen cloth, lightweight, soft and transparent, made from fine yarns which have been combed and mercerised, thus making them resistant and glossy. The warp// and weft have the same thread count and are in equal number per cm.
