Chiné

In French, it literally means "Chinese". Cloth, often made from silk, speckled, streaked and crimped//, featuring delicate patterns and imprecise outlines, obtained by printing the pattern on the warp threads before weaving, instead of printing the finished cloth. The textiles, designs and colours are typical of the nineteen-thirties and forties. It also means a yarn that has been printed in skeins, in two or more colours.
