Astrakhan
Species of Karakul lamb (Persian lambs) which provide pelts with characteristic glossy black or grey curls. The name comes from the city of Astrakan, in southern Russia. See BUKHARA, KARAKUL, PERSIAN LAMB and BREITSCHWANZ. There are also textiles created to imitate these pelts which are known by the same name.
