Camel

Red-toned cotton fibre supplied by the undercoat of the homonymous animal living in Asia, between Mongolia and the Persian Gulf. It is gathered in the spring, when the undercoat falls out in tufts, by those who especially follow the herds. The term also refers to camel hair textile, usually carded, spun and finished with a short and soft nap. The term is sometimes used improperly to indicate poor-quality fabrics that feature the warm beige colour of the camel.
